About the position:

Colourlab is a strong and vibrant research group in its field, with highly collaborative, supportive, and creative research environment. Among others, Colourlab’s research areas and portfolio are within image processing/ computer vision, colour and perception, appearance, and imaging for cultural heritage.

 

This PhD project focuses within the area of image processing and perception, specifically for texture. The PhD candidate will focus on developing texture analysis algorithms and its quality assessment protocols to measure, e.g., bias and uncertainty of the algorithm. They will also be required to design and develop psychovisual experiments, aiming to understand human perception of texture and how it correlates to machine/computer perception. While the PhD project is essentially a basic fundamental research, applications to natural sciences problems will also be carried out.

Det er stor etterspørsel etter Norsk Regnesentrals kompetanse, og vi vil styrke laget ytterligere.

Vi trenger to forskere i bildeanalyse og/eller jordobservasjon med solid bakgrunn i maskinlæring, bildeanalyse og dyp læring. Søkere må ha master- eller doktorgrad innen disse feltene. Stillingene ligger i forskningsavdelingen BAMJO med 17 forskere.

Vi har lang erfaring i bildeanalyse og jordobservasjon, og Norsk Regnesentral (NR) var tidlig ute med å ta i bruk nye teknikker som dyp læring, der vi nå har en stor og voksende prosjektportefølje.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Statistics and Deep Learning

About the position
At the Department of Mathematics and Statistics (DMS) a position is available for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. This position is financed by the IKT+ program at the Norwegian Research Council through the project Transforming ocean surveying by the power of DL and statistical methods. The successful candidate will focus on analysis of heterogeneous data and Bayesian Deep Learning. The position is affiliated with the Machine Learning (ML) group and the candidate will collaborate with Department of  Geosciences (DG) at UiT and the two companies Multiconsult and Argeo. The candidate will collaborate closely with researchers at the ML group, DMS, DG and the two companies. In addition, the candidate will collaborate with national and international researchers that participate in the project.
Qualifications
- Applied deep learning using popular deep learning libraries and frameworks, such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, or JAX
- The use of probabilistic programming languages (Stan, Pyro, PyMC3, etc) for Bayesian and ensemble approaches to neural network implementation, and the intersection thereof with deep learning frameworks
- Software and data engineering concepts for developing tenable, scalable implementations of deep learning training programs as well as data pipelines for online deployment of trained neural network models.
The suitable candidate should have:
- Background in signal and image processing
- A solid background in machine learning, statistics, mathematics and linear algebra is also required.
- Skills in programming and English.
Experience with deep learning (through courses, research projects, or similar), including hands-on experience with software tools such as Pytorch and Tensor Flow, will be considered a strength. Knowledge of pattern recognition and big data processing is considered as an asset.
Other required qualification skills include:
- Independence and self-motivation
- Creativity and ability to think outside the box
- Excellent work ethics and commitment to the job

PhD Candidate in Interactive Visualization of Spectral Images in a Museum Setting

About the position
We have a vacancy for a PhD candidate in “Interactive visualization of spectral images in a museum setting” at the Department of Computer Science in Gjøvik.
For a position as a PhD Candidate, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree. The appointment has a duration of 4 years with with 25% teaching duties in agreement with the department.
Duties of the position
- The PhD candidate will focus on conducting research in hyperspectral image processing and its interactive visualisation based on interaction design principles, with a museum setting as the main target application.
- Perform teaching duties in agreement with the department.
- Participate in the general activities of the Colourlab.
- Participate in the general activities of the department.
- Participate in international activities such as conference attendance and research stays at educational institutions abroad.

Prosjektene våre er primært rettet mot industrielle anvendelser og våre medarbeidere både initierer og gjennomfører prosjekter i tett samarbeid med våre kunder. Sammen med partnere i Norge og internasjonalt vil du bidra til utvikling av nye løsninger innen autonomi, robotsyn, automasjon og droneapplikasjoner. Vår gruppe jobber med prosjekter innen bl.a. romfart, energi, industri, medisin og havbruk og mange av våre kunder er oppstartsfirmaer. Stillingen vil også omfatte prosjektledelse, søknadsarbeid og vitenskapelig publisering.

 

Kvalifikasjoner

Vi søker to fagpersoner med universitetsutdannelse på master eller PhD-nivå. Du må være kunde- og løsningsorientert, like å arbeide i team, men også ha evnen til selv å drive fram prosjekter. Vi søker dyktig medarbeidere med solid faglig kompetanse innen bildeanalyse, maskinlæring og gjerne 3D analyse. Du må også ha programmeringserfaring (C++/Python/Matlab).

Computer Vision and Machine Learning Engineer at BioSort AS

BioSort is developing systems that utilizes computer vision, deep learning, and biometrics to create health records for fish. Each fish is analyzed for possible disease symptoms and those which need treatment are sorted out. The result is increased fish welfare and sustainability, while lowering the cost of fish farming. Development of BioSort’s product, iFarm, is supported heavily by the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries and done in close partnership with one of the largest salmon farmers in the world, Cermaq, who is investing 580 million NOK in the project. This will enable collection of the largest data set for individual fish health records in the world. You will be part of a team of developers, responsible for data collection, training and verification of neural networks, as well as implementation on edge devices and cloud solutions.
