National conference on image processing and machine learning

The biannual NOBIM conference provides a meeting place for researchers, students, and industry within image processing, pattern recognition, and machine learning to expose relevant research and development. NOBIM 2025 takes place at NTNU in Gjøvik Campus. See the conference program below.

Participation costs

Ordinary: 1100 NOK
Members: 800 NOK; for Bachelor-, Master-, and Ph.D. candidates (members): 500 NOK.
The conference fee includes a 3-course dinner.

Student travel stipends

Travel stipends will be given to three selected bachelor's or master's students (max. 5000 NOK each in the form of refunds of travel costs) who attend and present their work at NOBIM 2025.

Keynote Speakers

Bao Ngoc Huynh

Bao Ngoc Huynh completed her PhD at NMBU, where she applied deep learning to medical image analysis. Her research focuses on auto-segmentation of gross tumor volumes in head and neck cancer patients using PET/CT images, as well as predicting treatment outcomes. She has also collaborated with veterinary clinicians to explore AI applications in diagnosing joint dysplasia from X-rays. In addition to model development, her work emphasizes building trustworthy AI systems through uncertainty quantification and explainability.

Now working at the Radium Hospital, Oslo University Hospital, she is expanding her PhD research to integrate deep learning into clinical workflows for cancer treatment.

Hong Li (李竑)

Hong Li (李竑) is a tenured Associate Professor in Service Innovation and Digitalization affiliated with the Department of Leadership and Service Innovation at the University of Stavanger. She holds a doctorate with distinction in Human-Computer Interaction, with a focus on enhancing the ways people interact with technology to foster positive human experiences. Her academic and professional journey spans China, Japan, Britain, Finland, and Norway, providing her with a rich multicultural and interdisciplinary foundation. Hong’s research explores the (re)design of intensive technologies in service contexts, aiming to create meaningful, user-centered digital solutions.

Call for Abstracts

Contributions

Contributions in the form of abstracts of at most 500 words, with optional figures and/or tables, may be submitted as a single-page PDF file. Accepted works will be presented as talks. The abstracts will be distributed to conference participants. Contributions need not be publishable and may also have been published elsewhere. All research and applications related to image processing and machine learning fall within the scope of the conference. The best student paper will be awarded at the end of the conference. There will be one reward for Ph.D. students and one for Master/Bachelor students.
